SAFE NAMES RICH FURR HEAD OF GLOBAL REGULATORY AFFAIRS AND CHIEF COMPLIANCE OFFICER Ft. Lee, N.J. (September 27, 2007) – SAFE-BioPharma Association today announced the appointment of Richard Furr as Head, Global Regulatory Affairs and Chief Compliance Officer. SAFE-BioPharma is the non-profit association that created and manages the SAFE™ digital identity and digital signature standard for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. In the newly created position, Mr. Furr will serve as primary staff contact with the FDA and other global regulatory authorities, provide staff support to a variety of SAFE-BioPharma working groups and manage the SAFE Product Certification Program. Mr. Furr most recently served as Director, Business, Governance, and Compliance for SAFE-BioPharma with responsibility for development of the association’s business policies, governance and compliance standards and regulatory compliance activities with the Food and Drug Administration.

Mr. Furr has been a highly regarded senior consultant in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries helping develop and implement information systems to streamline a broad range of business processes. He has worked with Churchill & Harriman, Strategic Identity Group and First Consulting Group. He also was Director, Strategic Plans and Programs and Senior Program Manager for Aventis Pharmaceuticals Global Regulatory Affairs Operations. Mr. Furr served 20 years in the US Air Force as Signals Intelligence/Intelligence Staff Officer, Executive Officer and Squadron Commander. This included five years on the staff of the Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence. Upon leaving the military, he was a defense contractor managing the development of computer-based training programs for the USAF and US Navy.
Rich Furr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Dakota and is a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, the Air Force Squadron Officers School, and the Air Command and Staff College.
